My Story
Picture this: as a contractor, I've often inherited teams lacking motivation, morale, and engagement. They're change-fatigued and steeped in a negative culture. To deliver on my contract, I need them to perform at their best. While I'm assured they're being line-managed appropriately – "don't worry about that" – the reality often falls short. The significant overlap between line management and task management goes unrecognised, leaving me to pick up the pieces.
Sadly, in many companies, performance management and development are poorly executed. This stems partly from managers not receiving the necessary support, skills, and training to be effective. Additionally, the internal culture often fails to recognise its value. Sadly, most people have never experienced good management, leaving them without positive role models to emulate.
As a result, you find yourself becoming their de facto manager. If you've experienced this as a contractor, Kairosete is for you. While our content applies to permanent staff, we recognise the increasing reliance on SME contractors and the scarcity of tailored resources for us. We offer bite-sized, practical tips you can apply within your client teams without overstepping boundaries.
Whether you're a freelancer, day-rate contractor, or working through a small consultancy without established training, we are here to support you.
I was fortunate to have excellent managers early in my career who taught me that you're only as good as your team. I attribute much of my success to getting to know my team members – understanding their personalities, work drivers, career desires, and potential. This approach has allowed me to create environments that address these factors.
The result? I get to work with an awesome team, making my contracts more enjoyable and easier to deliver. For a contractor, this translates to more opportunities and consistent work.

Colleague (Junior)
It was an wonderful experience to work with Charlotte as she gave team members plenty of opportunities to show our capabilities.
She was like a root of a big tree for a big modular team where the branches were getting nutrition through her amazing leadership qualities.
Charlotte never failed to show integrity, empathy and courage to her team members. And because of that we were able to show and grow our abilities to the fullest. Moreover all her time-to-time communication, delegation and feedback to our work had some extraordinary influence. It was a pleasure to work and learn a lot from you Charlotte.

I worked alongside Charlotte for 6 months while we both worked on the same client.
She is a very people centric person and ensures that all of her colleagues and clients feel 100% involved and are able to contribute to progress. She has a fabulous energy that can easily energise an entire team within minutes.
Charlotte is an excellent mentor to learn from and if you get an opportunity to work alongside her, I can vouch for an amazing learning opportunity coming your way.
